Amy V. Smith
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
I help children, adolescents, teens, adults, and families, through individual and family counseling
It is my passion to help children, adolescents, teens, and adults find balance while they are struggling with life-changing events, past trauma, and the daily pressures of life. Playing, talking, and helping others has always been a large part of my life so it seems fitting that I decided to become a counselor.
I grew up mostly in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, but call myself a Northerner at heart due to my brief time growing up in New Hampshire. My happy place is being outside and being active no matter the occasion. Hiking, biking, beaching… you name it. If it’s outside, I am happy.
I was one of those kids who loved to read and loved to learn, and I still do. Both have been a great asset to my personal and professional growth. I hold a Master of Science (MS) in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. My love of learning has lead me to attend more trainings than I can count. I have specialized training in working with children, teens, and adolescents, helping with OCD, and trauma just to name a few.
My approach is to offer a non-judgmental space in which clients feel safe to work through the deeper issues they are struggling with. I bring to sessions over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field, 15 of which have been counseling children, adolescents, teens, and adults. I believe the relationship is the foundation for therapy. I meet clients where they are and use different modalities in the moment to help them get where they want to be.
It brings me great pride to do the work I do. I love volunteering, working with my clients, and spending time with family and friends. Thank you for spending time on my site. If you feel I might be a match to help you or you child, it would be my pleasure to talk with you and guide you on your path to healing.
